A day in LA

I woke up early this morning around 5:30 or 6. I must say birds chirping is romantic and quaint when one wants to be awake. Having trouble going back to sleep, I got up to shut some windows and captured this sunrise photo.

Later on in the day, I picked some tomatoes and rosemary for lunch.

I sliced a potato and sauteed it in oil. When it was more than half-way done I added chopped onion, rosemary and the tomatoes.
Then I arranged it on top of some greens and added green beans. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and eat. It would have been perfect with some grilled salmon.
I've been doing some crafting (of course) but not posting it. I've been sort of scattered. This top is a good example. One afternoon, I was watching Oprah because I couldn't find the remote to change the channel so I could use the vcr. The episode was about how clutter takes over some people's lives and they were encouraging getting rid of stuff. I became inspired and started going through my closets. I bought these two very inexpensive skirts in NYC a couple years ago and don't wear them. I decided to immediately make them into a top. Before Oprah was I had started cutting.
I used the pattern Vogue 8229 that I used for this shirt. I really like the cut of this pattern so I was excited to use it again. The flowered skirt is cut on the bias with sequins glued around the hem and a back zipper. I just cut the front of the top from the front of the skirt and the back from the back of the skirt. I even kept the zipper. I then used the solid brown hem from the polka dot skirt to make the neck pieces. The polka dot skirt is now really short. I'm not sure what to do with it.

I have other finished and almost finished projects in the works so I'll try to post again soon.
