Fabric Destiny

I love this fabric and I can't decide what to do with it! I think fabric has a destiny, a certain thing it is meant to be. I'm undecided about this piece and troubled by how little of it I possess. I only have about 1 1/4 yards of this fabric (60 inches wide) plus a little extra (not the full width). I want to make a blouse (I'm dreaming about a bow neck blouse) but isn't it strange that so many blouse patterns require so much yardage? The fabric is medium weight, probably synthetic and well suited for a blouse. I considered making a dress like this but I'm worried that the print wouldn't work and that the fabric should be darker in color for that style. Does anyone have a suggestion? A pattern or an idea? Much thanks!

  1. If it's not enough yardage for the entire bow neck blouse, you could consider making the bow and the cuffs in a coordinating fabric (like a print or solid black, grey, or teal). Sketch it out first to see how that would look, but I'm thinking something along those lines of mixing it with another fabric, like these Burdastyle tops: Desira, Ute

  2. That's lovely fabric. I was going to say what the first comment said, but the other way around. I love that periwinkle blue in the pattern, I would pick up the blue in the fabric as my main colour, and use this as the neck and front button piece and cuffs.

  5. oooooooo. those bow necks are popping up everywhere. excellent idea. and i say spike it up. it's a pretty fabric but make the bow bold. how bout something outrageous like red or yellow or an equally busy pattern?! you have such a great design sense that i think it's time you flaunted it a touch.

  6. Thank you for all the advice!!! This morning I have an image in mind of a high neck sleeveless bow neck blouse. I might be able to pull it off with my fabric constraints.
