The combination of slightly cooler weather and my discovery of
Ravelry has inspired a rash of knitting. Over my Christmas holiday I made two berets using the
Meret pattern available for free on Ravelry (you'll need to sign up for an account).
Then, with his gift of the book
Favorite Socks, my little brother requested that I make him Eastern European Footlets for his birthday. The pattern is a toe-up design which was a little confusing for me (understandable considering it's only my second pair of socks) but I believe I figured it out. They should be done in plenty of time for his birthday in March.
What I really love about Ravelry, besides a huge database of patterns is that I can catalogue all of my knitting supplies (yarn, books, magazines, needles) and my knitting projects. I can easily find what I have without searching all over the house. The website is easy to use and attractively designed. I just wish I had the same thing for sewing!
I also started a scarf using some yarn from my stash, Patons Grace. The pattern is another Ravelry one available
here. Knitting lace will be a nice break from the simple rounds of stockinette required for the XL footlets I'm making. I do have some sewing projects I'd like to start/complete and some I need to share, that is if I can pull myself away from my knitting!
