Self Striping Socks

Socks have become an addictive project for me. Even though they are made on small needles, they come together quickly and provide some challenge and variety turning the heel and forming the toe. Inspired by an old pair of nordic striped socks that have since worn through in the heels and toes, I picked up some self-striping yarn, Berroco Sox.

Striped yarn is really the easiest way to make stripes. No changing colors necessary, the yarn does all the work for you. The "dotted" areas are a little fuzzier than I had expected but I do like the result. I used a basic pattern from the book Getting Started Knitting Socks by Ann Budd.

  1. Hi there. I've just spent the last half hour reading all of your sewing posts. It's very inspiring - I really should get off the couch and put more time into doing my own sewing (though my skill level is nowhere near yours, from the looks of it).
    Thanks!
