Vintage Stretch & Sew Patterns

Stretch & Sew pattern company was founded by Ann Person in Eugene, OR sometime in the 1960s. Books, classes and patterns featuring her techniques for sewing with stretch fabrics became quite popular. The basic technique is to stretch the fabric while sewing with a long straight stitch. Read more in this article from Threads magazine.

Below are some Stretch & Sew patterns I picked up at the thrift store in Eugene (shown in chronological order).

Stretch & Sew pattern No 700 Ladies Slacks and Shorts, copyright 1967

Stretch & Sew pattern No 713 London Pants, copyright 1976

Stretch & Sew pattern 1556, Shawl tab dress & blouse, copyright 1980

Check out more Stretch & Sew patterns on the vintage pattern wiki. I love #1530. I have yet to use any of these patterns. I love the drawings and the retro look could easily fit in today's fashion.
