I started making this crochet clutch a long time ago using yarn recycled from a thrift store sweater. Never recycled yarn? Check out this tutorial from Neauveau Fiber Arts. Below is a very basic pattern for what I did. I used three strands of yarn held together and a very large crochet hook. This project is perfect for a large fabulous button.
Crochet Button Clutch Pattern
Chain 18 inches. Half double crochet every row for 14 inches. The start and end of the panel are the sides of the clutch. UPDATE: Fold up the long end 6 inches to make the pocket. Stitch the sides closed using a slip stitch. Attach large snap to inside (see below). Sew button to front center.
What a fantastic project! I have bookmarked this for when I can squirrel time to make it - thank you for the super project :)
ReplyDeleteThis project looks great! I want to try it, but what shorter end are you referring to in "Fold up the shorter end 6 inches to make the pocket."?
ReplyDeleteSorry! That did not really make sense. You should fold up the long edge. Thank you for letting me know. The change has been made above.
