Fabric can make or break a dress. (In evidence is the semi-failed muslin I shared earlier this week.) When making (or buying) a dress, one of the first things one must consider is fabric. So, here are a few of my favorite fabric designs from the week.1. Marimekko is so inspiring for fabric design. This fabric is available here.
2. I found this natural looking fabric on flickr by user webtreats and (bonus!) there are jpegs available for free download.
3. I really love the tumblr blog from The Design Center at Philadelphia University featuring vintage fabrics from their textile collection. The one shown above is from 1906.
4. I am most excited about this. I designed a collection of fabric called "To The Point" and it is available for sale on Spoonflower. Check it out here. I arrived my first samples this week (shown above). It's a really fun collection, kind of nautical in feel with a limited color palette so that everything matches easily. I'll be adding 5 more designs to the collection soon so check back in. I really want to make a dress in one of the navy designs.
