Summer Sewing Plans 2013

You might have already noticed that I've been on a Summer theme lately. I've been thinking a lot about what I want to make this summer (see this moodboard and this moodboard). I'm now ready to share my plans with you. Naturally there are quite a few projects that I had to set aside for anther day and I won't bore you with those right now. Dresses are big for me in the summer so of course I had to put 3 dresses into the mix. And I always seem to need blouses so a couple of those. And then I need something to wear with the blouses so a skirt and a pair of shorts have made the list. Let's get on to the details!

1. Pink Stripe Pleated Tank Top
Pattern: Simplicity 1661 View D
I bought some beautiful Japanese cotton fabric from Mood a few weeks ago and can't wait to make it into this top.

2. Emerald Blouse
Pattern: McCall's M6512
I found this emerald green polyester at the Michael Levine bargain by-the-pound store a couple of weeks ago. The fabric is the perfect weight for a blouse and this pattern looks just perfect.

3. Floral Dress
Pattern: Vogue V1152
I've had this pattern for a long time and when I found a gorgeous floral fabric at the Michael Levine bargain store I knew it was a match made in heaven.

4. Twisted Skirt
Pattern: Twisted Skirt 06/2012 from BurdaStyle
I have a light stretch cotton with tiny blue and gold stripes that I bought somewhere a year or two ago (probably at the ML bargain store, do you see a theme here?).

5. Chambray Shorts
Pattern: Iris from Colette Patterns (courtesy of Kollabora)
I seriously love wearing shorts whenever it's warm enough. These sweet shorts in chambray will be amazing.

6. Painted Stripe Dress
Pattern: Bow Wow Dress from Built By Wendy Dresses
I've actually already finished this one and I'm going to be sharing it this week. Check back soon!!

7. Red Stripe Dress
Pattern: Self Drafted (I'm planning to use this t-shirt pattern lengthened into a dress.)
So, surprise, surprise, yet another fabric from the ML bargain store. I have a classic red and white striped knit that is begging to be a casual cool t-shirt dress. I'm expecting to live in this one all summer long.

  1. The pleated tank has such a fun shape to it! I've also been wanting to sew a tie front blouse too! Thanks for linking to the patterns. :)

  3. Also can't wait for you to do the twisted skirt. I downloaded that a while ago but the instructions are inscrutable to me. Please summarize what you do?
