How to DIY – Polka Dot Dress

Yesterday I shared my essential summer accessories. Today I have dress that in a classic design and pattern that will match practically anything in your wardrobe. Flattering princess seams, a fitted waist and gathered skirt make this and easy-to-wear and easy-to-DIY classic that you are sure to wear year after year.

How to DIY a Polka Dot Dress

Step 1 Our inspiration dress is the Caldera Dress from Anthropologie. This dress is a total classic starting with the princess seamed bodice and going to the polka dot fabric.

Step 2 This was an easy dress to find a pattern for. Simplicity 1652 was the perfect choice, just use View B and omit the sleeves, as shown in View C. Easy-peasy, right?

Step 3 This cotton polka dot fabric has a dense pattern and the perfect light blue color. This blue color is pretty much my favorite color in the world. I've mentioned before that I love, love, love blue. This blue is one of my favorite shades.

  1. It says "animal print" there--I'm guessing it should say "polka dot print"?

Either way, love the inspiration and the pattern choice!
