I made this adorable little clutch using scrap fabric and the pattern from
Bend-The-Rules Sewing
by Amy Karol with a few modifications. I made a fold at the bottom
instead of a seam (why waist the fabric with an unnecessary seam) and skipped the flannel facing. This was a great project for using scrap fabric. The exterior fabric is
a heavyweight cotton from IKEA and provides enough heft so I didn't
feel that the flannel was necessary. I used the black and white fabric
before for
this sunhat and for some
wall decor (tutorial included). The lining fabric is leftover from
this refashion.
The clutch is very simple to make with just 4 rectangles stitched together. The top folds over and is held in place with a button and an elastic loop. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow.
Inspired by the book, I even did a little amoeba drawing on the inside flap.
The bag is the perfect size for carrying a small knitting project such as a sock. I'm really enjoying using this bag. It is such joy to look in my purse and see this beautiful little clutch.
