Fall Sewing Roundup

I finished up my Fall Wardrobe sewing plans just in time to start getting ready for the holidays. I love how these pieces turned out. I've already worn the dress and the refashioned skirt a few times. I have lots of DIY ideas in the works so stayed tuned for some holiday crafting coming soon as well as more sewing projects.

Fall Sewing No. 3 Orange Printed Pants

I finished these crazy orange printed pants just in time for Halloween last week. I didn't wear them for the holiday because I would have died if someone asked me what my costume was and I had to say, "What? You think these pants are a costume?". That said, I think these pants are really fun and I hope I get some good use out of them.

Fall Sewing No. 4 Teal Pencil Skirt

Last week I took a little detour from my full throttle sewing pace to bring you a knitting project. But don't worry I'm still working on my Fall sewing projects. Today I have number 4 on my list, the teal pencil skirt, to share with you. I did hit a few bumps in the road but I'm pleased with the final result.

Fall Sewing No. 2 – Refashioned Skirt

My favorite thing about refashioning garments is how much time it can save. I mean who doesn't love saving time, right? This skirt started out as a 1980s-era dress with large pearl-like buttons all the way up the front. I had plans to make the dress into a skirt over a year ago but never finished. Lately, I've been trying to clean up my closets and finish abandoned projects. When I pulled this one out of the bin, I had a flash of inspiration that I could add a black knit waistband and finish this one off.

Fall Sewing No. 1 – Lace Top Dress

Here is the first finished piece from my Fall Wardrobe. It's no coincidence that it is number 1 on my list. I actually finished this dress a couple of weeks ago. I love the print on this fabric. It's abstract and not at all fussy. The dark jewel tone colors and black lace make this a great dress for the Fall and Winter season.

Fall Wardrobe Sewing Plans

Can I just take a minute and say how did it already become Fall? I feel like the year is going so quickly. I've loved doing these seasonal sewing goals so I'm going to do it again for Fall. Unlike Spring, I'm not thinking as much about what my wardrobe needs as I am about how to use the fabric in my stash. I've chosen a few fabrics in a fall-ish color palette of orange, teal, brown and cream. I'm only planning on four pieces for Fall so I can get them done a little more quickly and then jump into Winter.

Fall Wardrobe Inspiration

This fall I want to wear lots of jewel tones and prints. I want to wear colors that remind me of fallen leaves, apple cider and pumpkin pie. I'm loving the rounded shoulders and swingy shapes that have been on the runway lately. So, here are a few of the things inspiring me for my fall wardrobe plans.
