Font Friday - Blanch

Today's Font Friday feature is Blanch, an all caps font available for free from Lost Type Co-Op. This font is an interesting mix of serious and friendly. It's very tall and straight, a little uptight but then it has softly curved "U"s and "N"s. I think this would be a great font for infographics or other informational designs. I'm getting into some knitting this week so I decided to do a little knitting themed graphic to feature this font. You know the seed stitch right? It's a lovely stitch and so simple, just knit one, purl one, repeat. 

Friday Faves – Sanchez Font and Instagram Photos

Today's Font Friday is Sanchez from My Fonts. Sanchez is a lovely, clean slab serif font. This font is similar to a classic slab serif like Rockwell but has a few special curves added in. Be sure to check out the "K" and "Q". The Regular and Italic versions are available for free. Buy the whole family and you'll get Extra Light, Light, Semi-Bold, Bold and Black, all in regular and italic. You can't get much more complete than that. Oh wait you can, there's also a Sanchez Condensed family.

ROCKTOBER BABY! Maybe better than Oktoberfest? Rocktober lasts longer right? Anyway, I took this photo at The Black Keys concert at The Staples Center.  Lots of fun!

OK, last example. I love the the composition of this photo and all the different elements – peeling paint, tiles, numbers, metal, red bell. And if you don't recognize the song lyric you need to listen to this song immediately. It sounds cooler in your head if you have the tune to go along with it. Have a great weekend!!

Today's Font Friday is Petit Lisa designed by Lisa Congdon and available from My Fonts. This thin, all-caps, handwritten font is so lovely and sophisticated. It's sure to bring a touch of whimsy to anything you're working on. Need more font inspiration? Friday Faves - July 13

This week's font is Oval from Fontfabric. It's a condensed, rounded font that also has some angles to (check out the A and V). I couldn't resist putting this font in color because it really seems to work best in "display" form. The sample above is Oval Single and Oval Black, both available for free. There are a bunch of other weights available for purchase as well. What do you think? Could you see using this font somewhere?

Friday Faves – June 8

Today's font is the nicely rounded and slightly condensed Static from Font Fabric. It's a free font with two weights and italic. A little bit space age, it's perfect for a poster in honor of this week's transit of venus. If you want to wear your tribute, check out dress number four below.

Today's faves are printed full skirt dresses. Check out these lovely numbers and get ready for your next summer soiree.

1. Paul & Joe Lisbeth Dress This dress is beyond awesome. I would love it add it to my collection with at least four additional inches added to the hem (because it is also beyond short).

2. RED Valentino Sleeveless Full Skirt Dress Aren't those ribbons of pink circling this dress fun? It would be a semi-simple way to spruce up a boring dress. (I'm thinking a refashion project is in order.)

3. Lilly Pulitzer Keira Silk Dress This dress is so classy and casual at the same time. It looks perfect for a really fancy backyard bbq with drinks like cucumber basil lemonade and rosemary thyme sparkling orange juice.

4. Kate Spade Solar Kristy Dress I'm dying over this print. It's not unlike a solar eclipse, but in only the coolest, funnest, summery way.

Free Printable 2012 Calendar - Between The Lines

"Between the Lines" is the third (and final) calendar in my series of FREE to download, printable calendars. This one is probably my favorite of the three. It features the font Homestead (available for free at Lost Type Co-Op) and bright overlapping colors. The graphics for each month were created using the same lines used in the font.

The second calendar in my series of free 2012 downloadable pdfs features the fonts Pompadour and Governor from Lost Type Co-op. Each month features a different popular phrase utilizing the number of that particular month.
