New Year - Blogging 2013

I've been back from my New Year's vacation for a couple of days now, mostly working long hours at my day job catching up. I'm having trouble jumping back into crafting and blogging. I was so focused on prepping for the holidays that now that it's over, I'm not sure where to start.

In 2012, I started choosing monthly themes for the blog. It's easier for me to come up with a list of ideas when I have something to start with. It really helped give me structure and goals for posting. I'm planning to continue with the themes for 2013 but I'm not sure what to do for January. I am feeling in the mood to do some "spring" cleaning and finish all the things I had planned to do in 2012 and never got around to (you know, all the piles of unused craft supplies and unfinished things). Nothing feels better than finishing a project that has been languishing. It's rather like a weight has been lifted and one can move on to bigger, better and new things. So, maybe the theme for January is kind of "Fresh Start".  What do you think? Are there any themes that you would like to read about in 2013?

December's Theme is Christmas

I think I mentioned yesterday that I am seriously getting into the Christmas spirit, dreaming of wrapping presents, decorating my trees (yes multiples! of course), baking cookies, drinking cocoa and generally eating a lot of delicious food. I don't even really mind all of the Christmas music permeating my radio. The last few years I have not been this excited about the season mostly because I work on holiday designs all year long and by the time Christmas rolls around I'm thinking, "Aren't we done we that yet?".

This year I'm happy to have my Christmas spirit back in full force and I'm planning some fun things to do this month including decorations, printables and maybe a little baking. Please come back and join me throughout the month.  I'm also constantly adding new eye candy to my two Christmas themed Pinterest boards: Holiday Crafting and Christmas.

November's Theme is Tops

Announcing! The theme for November is Tops. Obviously, I'll be featuring some blouses but I'm thinking I might throw in a thing or two that would fall under the moniker of tops. You can expect to see some DIYs, moodboards, fashion and lots of inspiration. I hope you'll come back and visit throughout the month!

P.S. While thinking about tops, I can't stop singing this song. You should listen to it now!

October's Blog Theme is Autumn

The change of seasons is always worth celebrating and when you're tired of the summer heat like I am, then Autumn is the most welcome season of all. This month I'll be sharing fashion, food, crafting, knitting, and sewing – pretty much all the Autumn inspiration you could hope for. Please come back and visit throughout the month. Also check out my "Falling Into Autumn" pinboard on Pinterest for more inspiration.

September Theme – Quilting

Quilting has always appealed to me as a great way to combine two dimensional design and craft. I took a quilting class about 6 or 7 years ago and I've started a few quilts but never actually finished. So, in order to jump start my quilt making, I'm making quilting and piecing the theme for September. This month I'll be sharing inspiration, works in progress and hopefully some finished projects too. I hope that you will come back and visit throughout the month.

Accessories & Embellishment Month – August 2012

This month I'm going to be focusing on accessories and embellishment. I'm really excited about this theme. I've been waiting for a while to do some jewelry projects. And that's just the beginning! Stay tuned!

Dress Month(s) Recap

My dress "month" ended up spanning three whole months and it was so much fun! Believe it or not I still have more dresses in my mind's eye that could be sewn. But alas, I think it's time to move on and try some new things (more on that tomorrow)...

Dress Month – May 2012

Summertime is on its way (here in Southern California anyway) so there is no better time to get started making summer dresses. The topics related to dresses are pretty much endless so don't be surprised if this month's theme stretches into June and maybe even July if I'm feeling really dress-tacular. I'll be doing some moodboards, tutorials, book reviews and of course sharing some new finished projects.

I'm also approaching my 500th post (this one is #491!) and I'm working on a little giveaway in celebration. So keep checking back in to see what's happening. Oh, and if you have any suggestions of things you'd like to see for dress month(s) leave it in a comment or send me an email. Cheers!

April is Earth Month

April is Earth Month at Lula Louise. Tune back in throughout the month for earth-friendly crafts and design. And don't forget Earth Day is April 22.

Skirt Month – March 2012

For the month of March, I've decided to blog on the theme sewing skirts. I'll be sharing a variety of sewing projects, some book reviews and a tutorial or two. I hope you'll come back and visit throughout the month.
